NHCVS Breakaway Manager - Kate Lake
Kate has been been at North Herts CVS for nearly ten years and is also the Deputy Director.
She is responsible for managing all the CVS playschemes for children with special needs.
She also line manages a number of NHCVS project staff.
In her spare time, Kate also coaches a young netball team in Stevenage.
North Herts Centre for Voluntary Service (NHCVS) has been running the playschemes and Saturday Clubs for approximately 16 years.
The Saturday Club initially ran from the Scout Hut next to the Grange School and was set up by a group of parents wanted a Saturday Club for their young people. It has been run from a number of venues over the years but was moved to St Nicholas School in 2015 as the Club expanded and more secure outside space was needed. NHCVS was asked to take over the running of the Club by the parents who wanted to ensure it was sustainable for future young people. Initially the Club was just intended for the older ones but in 2007 NHCVS were successful in tendering for funding to run a club for the younger age group.
North Herts Breakaway has been running almost as long as the Saturday Club but the Stevenage playscheme did not start until 2003.
